Experiences

Although Clarksville is known as Virginia's only lake front town, we've got more going for us than lake experiences. Explore the local options on your own, or reach out to us for assistance in planning the perfect getaway.

Whether it's a couple's retreat, family vacation, friend's weekend, bachelor or bachelorette party, or just a solo trip, Clarksville has so much to offer.

If you're in town, you have to check out the new store below our Boutique Guest Stay, The Corner at Two One Six. The unique finds at this eclectic gift store and wine shop are forever changing, making it our go-to spot for snagging something for ourselves or others. If you're a lover of life, art, food, libations, and/or gifts, you will no doubt enjoy your visit to The Corner!

In a four minute walk, you can find yourself at Buggs Island Brewing Company, winner of the 2019 Virginia's Best Brewery Award. With a corner lot on the main channel of the lake, outdoor fire pits with beautiful views, games, delicious food and occasional live music you can spend more than a few hours relaxing at this spot. The brewery has six flagship beers (our favorite is the Without a Paddle!) and more on rotation seasonally.

If you're in the mood for beautiful scenery and good wines, check out one of our local wineries! We recommend scheduling a tasting at Woodbine Vineyards or Three Sisters of Shiney Rock Winery. Although a little further of a drive, Rosemont Vineyards & Winery is another great option!

Located right across the street from our Boutique Guest Stay is the coziest coffee shop, Rooted Cafe! Order ahead or stop in for coffee, treats, bagels, breakfast sandwiches and more. There's often live music so grab a drink and enjoy the good vibes!

From May through October, enjoy Virginia's premier Beach Music Concert Series, Lake Life Live. Nominated for the 2020 and 2021 Concert Series of the Year by the Carolina Beach Music Academy (CBMA), these concerts are a Clarksville must-do. A big bonus is that the stage is only a 3 minute walk from our apartment!

It doesn’t get much better than taking the boat out for the day or hiking Occoneechee State Park with a customized picnic lunch!

We added a cute picnic basket and blanket to our Guest Stay and are so excited to partner with Sugar It Up to offer a picnic service for our guests. Guests must contact us at least one week prior to booking to place their picnic order.

Interested in exploring the lake, but you don't have a boat? No worries! Clarksville Marine Rental offers pontoon boat, paddle board, kayak, canoe, and fishing boat rentals. Daily and hourly rentals are possible, subject to availability. The rental office, located inside Occoneechee State Park, is a quick 4-minute drive across the bridge.

We also partner with Rudd's Creek Marina to offer a boat slip rental and parking at a low cost (subject to availability). They also have a gas dock and pump out facility. If you're around, be sure to check out their convenience store where you can find discount marine supplies and water toys, lake gifts, signs and t shirts, as well as ice, drinks, snacks and ice cream. They have hats, sunscreen, sun glasses and everything you need to enjoy a day at the lake!

If Rudd's Creek is booked, The Clarksville Marina is a quick .5 mile drive (or walk!) from our apartment and offers boat slip rentals for $20/night. We highly recommend that you book these slips ahead of your trip. Ask us about boat trailer parking options if you choose to dock your boat at the Marina!

Also, don't forget that the Clarksville Municipal dock is a short walk from the apartment and offers 20 complimentary day-use slips!

If we can schedule a time to do yoga while on a trip, we're definitely doing it. Jaya Yoga is located in Clarksville and offers a holistic approach to the practice, ranging from gentle to a more challenging Hatha flow. All classes incorporate breathing (Pranayama), poses (Asanas), deep relaxation (yoga Nidra) & meditation. In addition to yoga, Jaya can provide deep relaxation, meditation, and more. Jaya offers private and group classes across a number of venues in addition to private, on location sessions. Contact us or Jaya for details on booking one-on-one or small group sessions at our Guest Stay!

If you're a good eats person like us, you have a few options within walking distance. Cross the street from the apartment and turn right to visit the Pizza Pub. Fun fact - the Pizza Pub started out in the basement of our building!

If you're in the mood for seafood or steaks, turn left and check out Bridgewater Bar and Grill. We're a sucker for their fish tacos and tots!

Another excellent option in town is Cooper's Landing Inn & Traveler's Tavern. If you can snag a seat outside on a warm night, you won't be disappointed. Their weekend brunch is also a must-do!

Finally, we never say "no" to ice cream! Located right down the street is the cutest ice cream shop and furniture store, the Cottage Barn. Stop in for an ice cream cone that you can easily walk back with to enjoy on our porch overlooking Virginia Avenue!

Our cozy apartment is just steps away from great, locally owned shops! Besides The Corner at Two One Six, you have to stop in next-door at Grandfather's Country Creations to shop the coziest (and best smelling) home goods and gifts. Also ask about the driftwood selection because all of the driftwood in our apartment (including the incredible skull-shaped piece that is framed in the main room) came from Grandfather's!

For clothing, shoes, and accessories, Hite's Clothing across the street is a must-shop. We can never leave without buying something for ourselves or a family member (we just recently scored the cutest pair of earrings and Lake Life hoodie)!

Previously located in the basement of our building, Sweet Violet has a special place in our heart. The beautiful red Victorian on the corner of Virginia Ave and 4th street now houses the clothing and gift store. We love the variety of options, especially the kid's clothing and lovely smelling candles!

Enjoy a round of golf at Kinderton Country Club on the Donald Ross and Dick Wilson designed course. According to Kinderton's website, a particularly challenging hole is Number 6, a 393 yard par 4 appropriately called “The Monster” by everyone who plays it. One of the toughest par fours in the state, it requires a 210 yard carry off the tee over a lake where proper positioning for the second shot is essential. Good luck!

Right across the bridge is Occoneechee State Park. Per the park website, park facilities include an equestrian campground, picnic shelters, an amphitheater, a playground with splash park, and boat ramps. Occoneechee Marina offers a fuel dock and boat slips with water and electric service for annual rentals. The park also has 20 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. The visitor center and museum introduce visitors to Native American history and the indigenous Occoneechee people.

Whether you're in need of a quick trim or you want to pamper yourself with a full cut, color, and blowout, the Clarksville Hair Studio is right across the street (above the Cottage Barn).
